Notices
We are aware that the south pond looks terrible. The University of Nebraska offered us a grant to take care of algae in the pond. That is the cage with the plants. Unfortunately, because of this grant, we have been unable to treat the pond for duck weed, which has taken over the pond.
We have just given our notice to the University of Nebraska that we wish to have this removed. We are anticipating that this should be completed sometime in the first half of August 2025. At that time, we will aggressively treat the pond for the duck weed. From what we understand, the best time to treat any lake/pond for duck weed is in April or May. We may not get it looking beautiful until next year.
Thanks for your patience in this process.
[UPDATE: August 15]
The south pond was cleaned up with a boat to remove the duck weed.

The Thompson Creek HOA is working with the University of Nebraska, under a special grant, to keep the south pond clean and clear. You’ve probably noticed a floating rack of plantings that naturally bring in alum to naturally treat algae. We will be adding a tank to further assist the process yet this summer.
Currently the beautiful water fountain added about a year ago, needs cleaning every 6 weeks so the HOA is looking into putting a “filter less” fountain in its place and move the existing fountain to the middle pond where it is deeper.
The HOA is also proactively scheduling tree maintenance in 2025 for the south pond and some at the middle pond. This will continue for the next several years. This type of tree maintenance must be done when the ground is frozen.
You may have noticed that in 2024 two picnic tables were added and we continue to make sure there is sufficient mulch to help eliminate weeds and provide a softer landing spot by the park equipment.
